Colleston Morgan, Jr. 

2014 NACSA Leader

Colleston Morgan, Jr. currently serves as Chief Strategy Officer for the Orleans Parish School Board (OPSB), where he coordinates the development and implementation of the district’s plan to unify New Orleans’ system of public charter schools. In addition, Colleston oversees the district’s new school development and authorization work, its data and analytics functions, and facilitates districtwide policy development and intergovernmental affairs.

Colleston joined OPSB as a founding member of the district’s Charter School Office. During his tenure, he has helped develop and lead all aspects of the district’s authorizing functions, including overhauling the district’s charter school policies, managing the charter school application process and development of citywide authorizing strategic priorities, and leading the development of the district’s first School Performance Framework.

Before joining OPSB, Colleston spent time with the Superintendent’s Delivery Unit at the Louisiana Department of Education. He began his career in education as a Civics, Free Enterprise, and World History teacher at G.W. Carver High School in New Orleans, where he served as a Teach for America corps member and was recognized as the school’s Teacher of the Year.

Colleston earned an A.B. in Government from Harvard University, an M.P.P. from UChicago Harris, and was a 2014 NACSA Leaders Fellow. He resides in New Orleans with his wife Kristen and his two daughters: Charlotte “Charlie” Dawn and Colby Ann.
