Sheryl Rogers

2017 NACSA Leader

Sheryl Rogers might be categorized as a gypsy, having lived in nine states throughout her lifetime.  She has lived in Naples, Florida for the largest percentage of her life, however.  Working for Collier County Public Schools for nineteen years, her mentor, Associate Superintendent Luis Solano, was instrumental in leading her to work as the Director of Charter Schools. Prior to working as Director of Charter Schools, she held positions of increasing responsibility within the District, with her most recent position being the proud principal of Estates Elementary School.

Working with charter schools is an ever-changing landscape.  She finds it inspirational to work with many schools who all are successful, with very different approaches to education.  In addition, working with a variety of personalities is something that she relishes. One of the biggest challenges she faces is having the voice of Collier County be heard, when the District currently authorizes only five charter schools. She hopes to increase the collaboration within the charters schools in Collier County as the portfolio is slated to grow within the next five years.
