Third Thursdays

Third Thursdays

NACSA provides professional development opportunities, online courses, resources, and publications that are specifically designed to help authorizers and other school leaders grow and network. Third Thursdays, an ongoing virtual learning series, is part of that work.

February 16 – Charter Schools are Public Schools

Recent legal developments, including a case that could be heard by the Supreme Court, have prompted questions on whether charter schools are public schools. These legal issues can be difficult to understand, and their implications are hard to untangle.

Join Renita Thukral, Senior National Advisor for Legal Affairs for the National Alliance for Public Charter Schools, for February’s Third Thursday session to learn more.

January 18 – Rethinking the New School Application

Moderator and Senior Writer at The 74, Linda Jacobson, will challenge participants to rethink the new school application. What can authorizers and others do differently to tap into the full potential of communities to create more great schools for students and families? How can we support more leaders of color and those proximate to community aspirations and needs to develop more innovative, quality schools?

Join this virtual event on January 19 at noon CT to learn about NACSA’s recommendations for rethinking the new school application so that more students and communities have the schools they are rightly demanding. Come to hear from a panel of leaders in the field and consider with your colleagues the implications of these recommendations for your work.
