WVPCSB needs to continue for all of West Virginia’s children

At NACSA we believe in – and are working on – more high-quality educational opportunities where all students can thrive.

That is why earlier this year we applauded West Virginia in the expansion of quality charter school authorizing options in the creation of the West Virginia Professional Charter School Board (WVPCSB). This five-member, statewide independent chartering board had the potential to increase accessibility to excellent educational opportunities for West Virginia’s students and families. However, a recent injunction in West Virginia that stops the work of the WVPCSB is threatening to keep students and families from accessing equitable, innovative, high-quality educational opportunities.

As our nation’s schools continue to recover from the effects of an ongoing global pandemic, our communities and students deserve – and are rightly demanding – more, not fewer, opportunities for student success. The work of the WVPCSB needs to continue for all of West Virginia’s children.
